Roadtrips

In this monsoon, I visited a couple of historic places around pune. The first on was the Karle caves.

It is about 1 hour drive from Pune and really worth it in every aspect. This was my first visit to these caves and I was amazed at the scale and the complexity involved with these caves.

Think of it, these caves were carved some 2000 years ago. They are carved at a mountain top, which is even today bit tough to reach. 2000 years ago someone carved the these 60-80 feet high caves without any chance for error. I mean if something went wrong in terms of layout, location of the statues, you don't have a chance to correct that!

As an engineer, I really wonder how such major projects would be done back then!
